Plenty of visitors arrive on the Mornington Peninsula without a car, or would simply rather not drive once they are here. Taxi Peninsula looks after guests staying at hotels, resorts, boutique accommodation and holiday rentals, taking them from the airport to their door and then wherever their stay leads: a cellar door lunch, an afternoon at the hot springs, a round of golf or a wedding down the road.
Getting to your accommodation
Most guests begin with an airport transfer. We collect from Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine and from Avalon, and with your flight number in the booking we track the flight and time the pick-up to your actual arrival. From there we drive you directly to your accommodation, whether that is a hotel in Frankston or Mornington, a resort near Cape Schanck or Fingal, a cottage in Red Hill or Flinders, or a holiday apartment in Sorrento. Guests arriving by train can be collected from Frankston station instead.
Where guests go during their stay
- Cellar doors and restaurants around Red Hill, Main Ridge, Merricks and Moorooduc
- Peninsula Hot Springs and other wellness retreats around Fingal
- Golf courses around Cape Schanck, Fingal, Rosebud and Mornington
- Weddings and functions at Peninsula wineries, estates and private venues
- Beaches, walks and lookouts, from Point Nepean National Park to Arthurs Seat
- Dinner in town and back again, without anyone needing to drive
Because we are a local business, our drivers know the Peninsula’s back roads and the way into rural properties that can be confusing for visitors relying on a phone map. If your venue has a long driveway or an unmarked entrance, a note in your booking helps.
Guests staying several nights sometimes book a series of trips at once: the airport run in, a winery day midweek, dinner in Sorrento on the Saturday and the early transfer out. Setting these up together means fewer phone calls during your break, and you can still change or cancel individual trips if plans shift. Families travelling with grandparents or friends meeting up from different cities find this especially helpful.
Golf, spa and wine days
Golfers often travel with clubs and buggies, so tell us how many sets you are bringing and we will send a vehicle with enough room, using the Maxi for a full group. For a day at the hot springs, arrange your drop-off to suit your bathing session, and a return pick-up for when you expect to finish. Winery days are best planned as a longer booking with a designated driver, which you can read about on our winery tours page.
Accessible stays
Guests who use a wheelchair can travel in our ramp van, which carries one wheelchair plus four seated passengers, or our Maxi WAT with a hydraulic hoist for two wheelchairs plus six seated passengers. All wheelchair vehicles have four-point restraints, lap-sash seatbelts and air-conditioning. That means a wheelchair user can get from the airport to the resort, then out to dinner or a winery, without hunting for an accessible hire car. MPTP cards are accepted for eligible Victorian passengers.
Information for hotel and resort staff
Reception and concierge teams are welcome to book on behalf of guests. Give us the guest’s name, the pick-up time and destination, and any luggage or mobility details, and choose whether the confirmation goes to the guest or to the front desk. For a guest leaving to catch a flight, we can suggest a sensible departure time based on the airport and the time of day.
We operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which suits late check-ins and very early checkouts. Bookings are recommended, especially in summer, over Easter and on wedding weekends when the Peninsula is busiest. The online form takes about two minutes and shows a fare estimate, and fixed quotes are available on request for planned transfers or multi-stop days.
A pre-booked taxi can take much of the stress out of a short break. Instead of studying bus timetables or debating who will drive home from dinner, you can simply enjoy where you are staying and let someone local handle the roads.
