Mount Martha is a leafy coastal suburb, mostly homes on hilly streets above the bay, and its residents call Taxi Peninsula for trips large and small. We are available 24/7 with standard sedans and with wheelchair accessible vehicles that let passengers stay in their own chair.
The Esplanade follows the coastline past the bay beaches and beach boxes, while the Nepean Highway runs inland through the suburb. The Briars, a historic homestead and park with wetlands and walking trails, is a well-known local attraction, and the Balcombe Estuary reserve winds down to the bay. Mount Martha has a small village shopping area, so for larger shopping, appointments and hospital care people head to Mornington, The Bays Hospital, Frankston Hospital and Bayside Shopping Centre. There is no train station here, which makes a taxi to Frankston station the usual first step for city trips. The suburb also has a growing number of retirees, many of whom no longer drive at night and use taxis for dinners, concerts and family visits.
Many streets here are steep or winding and some driveways are tricky, so tell us about steps, slopes or limited turning space when you book. Book the evening before for early flights or appointments. Families and groups can use our Maxi WAT, with six seats plus two wheelchair positions. MPTP cards are accepted, along with NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers come along with the passenger. Drivers help door to door, including with bags and walking aids.

What should I know about getting around Mount Martha?
The Esplanade is scenic but narrow and slow in summer, when beachgoers park along both sides and pedestrians cross often. The Nepean Highway is usually the quicker route north to Mornington and south to Safety Beach and Dromana, with Peninsula Link reachable via the Mornington area. Hilly side streets and steep driveways can make kerbside pick-ups awkward, so a flatter meeting point may be better for wheelchair loading. There is no rail line; Frankston station is the nearest metropolitan connection. Beach box areas along the Esplanade have limited stopping space, so a car park entrance is usually a better meeting point.

Questions about travelling in Mount Martha
My Mount Martha home has a steep driveway. Can a wheelchair taxi still pick me up?
Often yes, but it helps to tell us about the slope when booking. The driver will look for the safest level spot to deploy the ramp or hoist, which might be at the top or bottom of the driveway or on the street. If there is a flatter area nearby, mention it in the booking notes.
Can you drop us at The Briars in Mount Martha?
Yes. The Briars is on the Nepean Highway and we can take you there for a walk, an event or a visit to the homestead and bring you back later. Book your return at a set time, or use the pick up when ready option and let us know when you are finished.
Is there a train from Mount Martha?
No, Mount Martha has no train station. The nearest metropolitan rail is Frankston station on the Frankston line, which is why many residents book a taxi there before heading into the city. For hospital appointments or flights, a direct door-to-door trip is often less tiring than changing between car and train.
Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?
Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.
Can a carer or family member come too?
Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.
How do I pay?
Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
