In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Dandenong since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Dandenong is one of Melbourne’s major suburban centres, with a busy commercial heart and a richly multicultural community. Taxi Peninsula covers Dandenong 24 hours a day, bringing sedans and wheelchair accessible taxis to a part of the south-east that many of our Peninsula passengers also travel to.

Dandenong Hospital, part of Monash Health, is a major public hospital and a regular destination for appointments, visits and discharges. Dandenong Market draws shoppers from across the region for fresh food, and Dandenong Plaza is the main indoor shopping centre. Dandenong station is on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, linking to the city. The Princes Highway, Monash Freeway, EastLink and the South Gippsland Highway all converge here, and the industrial estates of Dandenong South employ thousands. People commonly travel to Monash Medical Centre, Frankston, the Mornington Peninsula, Westfield Fountain Gate and Melbourne Airport. Many of our trips here link Dandenong with Frankston and the Peninsula, whether for hospital visits, family, work or shopping.

For hospital discharges, the pick up when ready option lets you tap I’m ready or call when you are cleared to leave. Book ahead for early flights and appointments. The Maxi WAT carries six seated passengers and two wheelchairs, handy for families. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers travel with the passenger. Ask for a fixed quote for trips to the Peninsula, or check the fare estimate on the booking form.

What should I know about getting around Dandenong?

The Princes Highway and Lonsdale Street are busy through central Dandenong, especially at peak times and on market days. EastLink and the Monash Freeway provide fast access north and towards the city, while EastLink and Peninsula Link connect south to Frankston and the Peninsula. Dandenong station is on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines. Industrial areas in Dandenong South are large and confusing at night, so give exact gate details. Around Dandenong Hospital, drop-offs work best at the main entrance; tell us your department. Market days bring heavy traffic and limited stopping space around the market precinct, so a side street may be easier.

What trips can I book from Dandenong?

Questions about travelling in Dandenong

Can you take me home to the Peninsula from Dandenong Hospital?

Yes. We regularly carry patients from Dandenong Hospital to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. Choose the pick up when ready option when booking, and tap I'm ready or call us when you are discharged. A wheelchair accessible vehicle can be sent if needed, and a carer can travel with you.

Do you pick up from Dandenong Market with shopping?

We do. Market trips can involve plenty of bags, so let us know and the driver will help load them. Agree a clear pick-up point near the market entrance, as the surrounding streets get busy on market days. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available for shoppers who use a chair.

Can you collect me from Dandenong station?

Yes. Dandenong station is on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, and we can meet your train and take you onwards, including to destinations on the Peninsula. Tell us roughly when you will arrive and which exit you will use. Wheelchair passengers can be met with a ramp van or Maxi WAT.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
