In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Flinders since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

At the southern tip of the peninsula, where Western Port opens to Bass Strait, Flinders is a historic seaside village with a pier, a clifftop golf course and a strong local community. Taxi Peninsula serves it 24 hours a day. A sedan handles most trips, and our wheelchair accessible van and Maxi WAT carry passengers who stay seated in their chair, with drivers helping door to door.

Cook Street is the heart of town, with cafes and local shops. Flinders Pier, Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary and the ocean coast to West Head draw walkers, divers and families, and Flinders Golf Club is set high above the water. Residents travel up to Red Hill and Main Ridge, to Rosebud for shopping and Rosebud Hospital, and to Frankston Hospital for specialist care. Melbourne Airport trips head north through the peninsula.

Because Flinders is at the end of the road, booking ahead is wise for flights, appointments and dinners out. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers can travel with the passenger. Groups can share the Maxi WAT. For Frankston Hospital or Rosebud Hospital appointments, “pick up when ready” lets you tap “I’m ready” or call when you’re finished, so you aren’t left waiting. Coming home from Melbourne Airport? Add your flight number when booking and we’ll track it. Holiday visitors can ask for a fixed quote from Melbourne before they travel.

What should I know about getting around Flinders?

Flinders sits where Frankston–Flinders Road and Mornington–Flinders Road meet, both winding country roads with sharp bends and few overtaking spots. The town feels a long way from the bay side, so allow a little extra time for pick-ups. Summer weekends and holidays bring visitors to the pier, golf club and beaches, and parking near Cook Street can be tight. Homes on the edge of town are often set on acreage or bush blocks with long driveways, so give us clear directions. Buses are infrequent, so many residents and visitors use taxis.

What trips can I book from Flinders?

Questions about travelling in Flinders

Can you take me from Flinders to Frankston Hospital?

Yes. We’ll take you door to door and drop you at the main entrance; tell us your department or ward when you book. For appointments or discharges with uncertain timing, use “pick up when ready” and tap “I’m ready” or call us when you’re finished. For emergencies, always call 000.

Can you get me and my clubs to Flinders Golf Club?

Yes. Mention your golf bag when booking so we send a car with enough boot space. We’ll drop you at the clubhouse and can pick you up after your round at a set time or when you call. Groups of golfers can ask about larger vehicles.

Do I need to book ahead in summer?

It’s a good idea. Flinders is at the far end of the peninsula, and summer weekends and holidays are busy. Booking ahead means a car is set aside for you, particularly for early flights, evening dinners or trips home from Red Hill or Rosebud.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
