Taxi Peninsula is based on the Mornington Peninsula, but a lot of our work begins in the Melbourne CBD. We bring people home from the city to Frankston, the Peninsula and the south-east at any hour, in sedans or in wheelchair accessible vehicles with ramps and hoists, so the trip back does not depend on finding a suitable car on a busy city street.
City trips usually start at a few familiar places. Southern Cross Station is the arrival point for regional and interstate coaches and V/Line trains, and Flinders Street Station is where the Frankston line begins. Melbourne’s major hospitals sit just outside the grid, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Parkville, and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in East Melbourne. We also collect people after concerts, sport and conferences at the MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Marvel Stadium and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Pre-booking is the key in the city. Arrange a set time for a meeting or performance, or use the pick up when ready option after a hospital appointment or discharge, then tap I’m ready or call us when you are out. A group heading back to the Peninsula after a show can share the Maxi WAT, which seats six plus two wheelchairs. MPTP cards are accepted, NDIS and aged-care accounts are welcome, and carers travel with the passenger. Ask for a fixed quote for longer runs home.

What should I know about getting around Melbourne CBD?
Getting out of the city towards the south-east usually means Kings Way and the Monash Freeway, or the West Gate Freeway and CityLink, then EastLink and Peninsula Link down to the Peninsula. Peak hours and major events can slow these routes considerably. Many CBD streets have tram lanes, clearways and loading zones where stopping is restricted, so we agree a legal pick-up point in advance, such as a side street, a hotel drop-off area or a hospital patient pick-up zone. Large events at Melbourne Park and the MCG create heavy traffic around Olympic Boulevard and Punt Road.

Questions about travelling in Melbourne CBD
Can you pick me up from a Parkville hospital and take me home to the Peninsula?
Yes. We regularly collect patients from the Royal Melbourne, Royal Women’s, Peter Mac and Royal Children’s hospitals for the trip back to Frankston and the Peninsula. Choose the pick up when ready option if your discharge time is uncertain, then tap I'm ready or call us. Tell us the hospital and your ward or department when booking.
Will you collect me after a game at the MCG or a concert at Rod Laver Arena?
We can. Book in advance and nominate a pick-up point away from the main crowds, since the roads right beside the venues are often closed or jammed after events. We will confirm the spot by SMS or email. A group can share the Maxi WAT, and it also suits fans travelling with wheelchairs.
I am arriving by V/Line or coach at Southern Cross. Can you meet me?
Yes. Southern Cross Station is a common pick-up for passengers heading to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. Give us your expected arrival time and we will agree a meeting point outside the station. If your service is delayed, call us and we will adjust. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available for passengers who travel in their chair.
Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?
Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.
Can a carer or family member come too?
Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.
How do I pay?
Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
