In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Frankston since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

Frankston is the busiest part of our service area, and our drivers know its streets well. Taxi Peninsula operates here 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with sedans for quick local runs and a range of wheelchair accessible taxis for passengers who travel in a manual or power chair. Our passengers include hospital patients and visitors, students, commuters, shoppers and people heading home after a night out near the foreshore.

As the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston has a lot going on. Frankston Hospital, the main public hospital run by Peninsula Health, is on Hastings Road and generates a steady flow of appointments, visits and discharges. Frankston station is the end of the metropolitan Frankston line and the start of the Stony Point line, while Bayside Shopping Centre, the Frankston Arts Centre and the foreshore near Frankston Pier draw people into the city centre. Monash University’s Peninsula campus and Chisholm Institute bring students, and the Nepean Highway, Frankston Freeway and Peninsula Link carry traffic in every direction.

For hospital discharges, the pick up when ready option means you are not stuck watching the clock: tap I’m ready or call us when you are cleared to go. Book ahead for early flights, day surgery and specialist appointments. Our Maxi WAT seats six and takes two wheelchairs, ideal for groups or heavier power chairs. We accept MPTP cards, NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers travel with the passenger at no extra fuss.

What should I know about getting around Frankston?

Frankston’s centre can be congested around Nepean Highway, Young Street and the station precinct, especially at school times and on weekend afternoons. Frankston Hospital on Hastings Road is busy throughout the day, and drop-offs work best at the main entrance or the patient pick-up area; tell us your department. The Frankston line and Stony Point line meet at Frankston station. Summer events on the foreshore, such as the waterfront festivals, can close roads near the beach. Peninsula Link and the Frankston Freeway are the quickest routes north. Around Monash University’s Peninsula campus, class change times bring a lot of student traffic.

What trips can I book from Frankston?

Questions about travelling in Frankston

Can I book a taxi home after being discharged from Frankston Hospital?

Yes. Choose the pick up when ready option when you book, and once staff say you can leave, tap I'm ready or call us. We send the nearest suitable car, including a wheelchair accessible vehicle if needed. The driver meets you at the hospital entrance and can help with bags and getting settled at home.

How do I get from Frankston to Melbourne Airport early in the morning?

Book the night before and give us your flight time so we can plan the pick-up with plenty of margin. Early morning traffic is usually lighter, but we still allow for roadworks and freeway closures. For return trips, add your flight number and we track your arrival so the driver adjusts to delays.

Do you pick up from Frankston station for people coming off the train?

Yes, many passengers use us to finish a journey that started on the Frankston line or the Stony Point line. Tell us which side of the station you will exit and roughly when your train arrives. If you are travelling with a wheelchair, our ramp van or Maxi WAT can meet you at the station.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
