Avalon Airport is a smaller airport between Melbourne and Geelong, near the town of Lara. It handles a limited number of domestic flights, mostly with low-cost airlines, and is popular with travellers from Geelong and the west who want a quicker, simpler terminal experience.
For Peninsula residents, Avalon sometimes offers a cheaper fare or a better flight time, but it is a long way around the bay by road. Public transport options to the airport are limited, especially for early or late flights, and parking for several days adds to the cost of the trip. From the Peninsula, the route runs around the top of the bay and through the western suburbs, so the drive takes some planning, particularly for an early departure. Coming home late in the evening, a booked ride waiting at the terminal is much easier than finding your car in a dark car park and making the long drive back to the Peninsula yourself.
Taxi Peninsula can take you to Avalon from anywhere on the Peninsula or in Frankston, at any hour. Add your flight number for the trip home and we will track your landing. Sedans suit most travellers, and the Maxi WAT takes groups, wheelchair users and bulky luggage. Fixed quotes are available on request.
