Not every trip needs planning weeks in advance. Most of our work is ordinary, everyday travel: a ride to the supermarket, a lift to Frankston station, dinner in Main Street Mornington or getting home safely after a night out. Taxi Peninsula provides a local taxi service across the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in a comfortable sedan or, when you need it, a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Where do locals use us?
Our everyday trips cover the whole Peninsula, from Seaford and Carrum Downs in the north to Portsea and Flinders in the south, and across to Hastings and the Western Port side. Some of the most common runs are:
- Shopping at Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston, Karingal Hub, Mornington, Rosebud or your local village
- Frankston station, and the Stony Point line stations such as Hastings and Baxter
- Restaurants and pubs in Mornington, Sorrento, Red Hill and Frankston
- Work, school pick-ups and after-hours shifts
- Hairdressers, gyms, banks, the post office and other quick errands
- The Searoad ferry terminal at Sorrento
A sedan for quick trips
For most everyday travel, our sedan is the right choice: a normal taxi for one to four passengers and their shopping or overnight bags. Drivers help with heavier bags at the door, and if you use a walker or folding wheelchair and can transfer into a car seat, it can go in the boot. If you need to stay seated in your wheelchair, choose our ramp van or the Maxi WAT instead; the booking form shows the options clearly.
Late nights and early mornings
Public transport on the Peninsula thins out at night, and some towns have no train line at all. That makes a taxi the practical way home after dinner with friends, a birthday at the pub or a late shift. We run all night, every night, so a 2am ride from Frankston to Mount Eliza or a 5am start to get to work is just as possible as an afternoon trip to the shops. If you know you will need a ride home later, booking it in advance saves waiting at the end of the night.
Booking a local taxi
The quickest way is to book online, which takes about two minutes. Enter your pick-up and destination, choose a vehicle and a time, and the form shows a fare estimate before you confirm. You can also phone us if you prefer to talk to someone. Either way, confirmation arrives by SMS or email.
Bookings are recommended, especially for busy times such as Friday and Saturday evenings, school holidays and summer weekends when the southern Peninsula fills with visitors. If you need a car soon, it is still worth trying; we will tell you honestly when we can be there. If we cannot reach you as quickly as you need, we would rather say so upfront than leave you guessing.
Small things that make a difference
Local trips are often the ones that matter most day to day, so the details count. Add a note to your booking if your house is hard to find, if you will be waiting inside a shop rather than at the kerb, or if you are carrying something bulky. Regular passengers sometimes set up a standing booking, such as the same shopping trip every Thursday morning, so they never have to remember to call. MPTP cards are accepted for eligible passengers on everyday trips too, not just medical ones.
Visitors are welcome as well. If you are staying in a holiday house in Rye or Blairgowrie, or with family in Somerville or Tyabb, a local taxi is an easy way to get around without hiring a car. You might use us for a morning at the Sorrento shops, a lift to a dinner booking in Red Hill, or a ride back from the beach with the kids and their gear. Tell us where you are staying and where you want to go, and we will look after the rest.
