Tips from our drivers for Point Nepean National Park
- Plan your walk and choose a pick-up point before you set off.
- Combine with lunch at Portsea afterwards.
- Bring water and sun protection, as the walks are exposed.
Point Nepean National Park covers the tip of the Mornington Peninsula, overlooking The Rip where Port Phillip meets Bass Strait. It includes the historic Quarantine Station, military fortifications at Fort Nepean, and coastal walking tracks with views across to Queenscliff.
Visitors book us to reach the park without worrying about parking, often walking one way and being collected later. History lovers, walkers and families come for the forts and the views, and many finish with a meal at Portsea or Sorrento. History is everywhere here, from the old Quarantine Station buildings to the gun emplacements and tunnels at Fort Nepean. Allow time to explore, and choose a pick-up time that leaves room for the walk back. Weather can change quickly at the tip of the peninsula, so bring a layer even on sunny days.
Our wheelchair accessible van and Maxi WAT have four-point restraints and air-conditioning, and drivers help from door to door. Parks Victoria can tell you about accessible paths within the park. Book ahead in summer, when the southern peninsula is busiest.
