Caulfield Hospital is part of Alfred Health and specialises in rehabilitation, aged care and aged mental health, along with a range of community and outpatient programs. Many patients are transferred here from The Alfred to continue their recovery.
Peninsula families often find themselves visiting Caulfield after a relative has been treated at The Alfred. Stays may be long, and the trip up the Nepean Highway or the freeway is not one every visitor wants to drive several times a week. Patients also come back for outpatient therapy after going home. Some patients are cleared for short outings or weekend leave before they finally go home, and others attend day programs and clinics on the site after discharge. Each of those trips needs a vehicle that suits their mobility at that stage of recovery, whether that is a sedan or a wheelchair taxi.
Taxi Peninsula provides sedans for visitors and wheelchair accessible vehicles for patients who travel in their chairs. We can bring a patient home to the Peninsula on discharge, run regular visiting trips, or take people to outpatient sessions. Drivers help door to door, and MPTP cards, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

Transfers between hospitals for admitted patients are normally arranged by the hospital. Once he is settled, we can bring family in to visit, and when he is discharged we can take him home to the Peninsula in a sedan or wheelchair accessible vehicle, depending on his mobility.
Is there room for a carer in the wheelchair taxi?
Yes. Our wheelchair accessible van carries one wheelchair plus four seated passengers, and the Maxi WAT carries two wheelchairs plus six seated passengers. Carers ride with the passenger, so you can stay together for the whole trip between Caulfield and home.
