Hotel Rye is a pub and dining venue on Point Nepean Road, facing the foreshore and the long Rye pier. It is a gathering place for locals year-round and fills with holidaymakers over summer, when Rye’s foreshore camping ground and beaches are packed.
We run guests here from holiday houses in Tootgarook, Blairgowrie and Rosebud, and from the camping grounds along the foreshore. After a meal and a few drinks, a booked taxi home is easier than finding the car again in the dark. We also take people on to Sorrento, Portsea or the hot springs at Fingal. Holidaymakers often ask us for a combined trip, starting at Hotel Rye for lunch and continuing to Sorrento or Portsea for the afternoon. Out of season, when Rye is calmer, locals book us for midweek dinners and catch-ups with friends.
For travellers with mobility needs, our wheelchair accessible van has a rear ramp, and the Maxi WAT has a hydraulic hoist and room for two wheelchairs plus six seated passengers. All our wheelchair vehicles have four-point restraints and air-conditioning, which helps on hot summer evenings.

Is there a taxi for a group going from Hotel Rye to Sorrento?
Yes. Sedans carry up to four passengers, and the Maxi WAT seats up to eight when no wheelchairs are aboard. Let us know your group size and destination, and we will suggest the best option. Booking ahead is wise on summer evenings when Point Nepean Road is busy.
