Monash Medical Centre in Clayton is one of Melbourne’s major public teaching hospitals and the largest campus of Monash Health. It provides a wide range of specialist services, from complex surgery and cancer care to renal services and maternity, and treats patients referred from across the south-east.
Peninsula and Frankston residents are often referred to Clayton for care that is not available closer to home, or for specialist reviews linked to ongoing treatment. That can mean a long trip up the freeways for a short appointment, sometimes several times a month. Patients who need regular treatment such as dialysis, and those who have just had surgery, are rarely in a position to drive.
