Rosebud Plaza is the main shopping centre in Rosebud, serving the southern Mornington Peninsula. It has supermarkets, specialty stores and food outlets, and is a main place for groceries and everyday shopping for residents of Rosebud, Rye, Dromana, Capel Sound and Tootgarook.
Many southern Peninsula residents, particularly older people, do not drive and find the bus home with heavy shopping difficult. In summer, holidaymakers also visit Rosebud Plaza for supplies, and parking can be busy. For residents of Rye, Tootgarook, Capel Sound, McCrae and Dromana, Rosebud Plaza is the nearest large shopping centre, but the trip without a car can involve a long walk to the bus and a wait. Older shoppers with walkers, or people in wheelchairs, find the bus particularly difficult. A taxi takes you from your door to the centre and back, and the driver helps carry the shopping inside, which turns a tiring outing into a simple one.
Taxi Peninsula collects you from Rosebud Plaza and takes you home, with the driver helping with your bags. Book a set time or use “pick up when ready”, and choose a wheelchair accessible vehicle if needed. MPTP cards, NDIS and aged-care accounts can all be used.
