Hotel Sorrento is a long-standing limestone hotel on Hotham Road, overlooking Port Phillip just above the Sorrento foreshore. It combines a pub and dining room with accommodation, and it is a favourite for long lunches, birthdays and summer evenings watching the bay.
We take locals and visitors to the hotel from across the southern peninsula, from Rye and Blairgowrie to Portsea, and bring them home at closing time. Guests staying overnight book us for Melbourne Airport transfers, rides to the back beaches and trips to wineries further inland. We also handle pick-ups for people arriving on the Queenscliff ferry. In the cooler months the hotel is quieter, and locals from Sorrento and Portsea book us for a weekend meal or a midweek catch-up. The southern end of the peninsula has fewer taxis than the city, so a set pick-up time is the surest way to get home when you want to.
For travellers who use a wheelchair, our ramp-equipped van and Maxi WAT both have four-point restraints and air-conditioning, and our drivers help door to door. Groups of up to eight can share the Maxi WAT. MPTP cards are accepted for eligible passengers.

Questions about taxis to Hotel Sorrento
Is it easy to get a taxi from Hotel Sorrento late at night?
Sorrento gets very busy in summer, so it is best to book your return ahead rather than hoping for a car on the spot. We operate 24 hours, and a booking made in advance means a vehicle is set aside for your time. Booking online takes about two minutes.
Can a wheelchair user get to Hotel Sorrento by taxi?
Yes. Book our wheelchair accessible van or Maxi WAT and the driver will help you from your door to the hotel entrance. Hotham Road slopes, so we can drop you as close to the entrance as the kerb allows. It is worth checking with the hotel about step-free access inside.
Where will you drop me off at Hotel Sorrento?
Pick-up is outside the hotel on Hotham Road. If you are staying in the hotel’s apartments, tell us so we can meet you at the most convenient door.
Can you wait or pick me up after my appointment at Hotel Sorrento?
Yes. Book a return trip with an approximate time, then call or text us when you are ready. Appointments often run late, so we keep return pick-ups flexible.
Is there step-free access at Hotel Sorrento?
We drop you at the front of the hotel on Hotham Road, a short walk up from the Sorrento foreshore.
Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?
Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.
Can a carer or family member come too?
Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.
How do I pay?
Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
