In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Shoreham since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

Shoreham is small, leafy and quiet for most of the year, a Western Port beach village tucked below the Red Hill ridge. Taxi Peninsula serves it 24 hours a day. You can book a sedan for a ride up to the wineries or into town, or a wheelchair accessible vehicle with a ramp or hoist and four-point restraints when a passenger needs to stay in their wheelchair.

The village centres on its foreshore, with a sheltered beach, a camping ground among the trees and views across Western Port to Phillip Island. Shoreham Road climbs inland to Red Hill South and Red Hill, where cellar doors such as Montalto and Port Phillip Estate are only a short drive away. Locals shop in Balnarring or Red Hill, and travel further to Rosebud Hospital, Frankston Hospital, Mornington or Melbourne Airport.

In summer, the camping ground and holiday homes fill up, so booking ahead is a good idea for dinners out and airport trips. Larger groups can use the Maxi WAT. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers can ride alongside the passenger. Residents heading to a specialist or day surgery at Frankston Hospital or Rosebud Hospital can use “pick up when ready”, then tap “I’m ready” or call when they’re finished. For Melbourne Airport trips, add your flight number so we can track your return. Weekend visitors can ask for a fixed quote from Melbourne.

What should I know about getting around Shoreham?

Shoreham is reached via Frankston–Flinders Road or Shoreham Road from Red Hill, both winding country routes with little lighting at night. Inside the village, streets are narrow and leafy, and some homes are set back on bush blocks or along unsealed roads, so let us know where the driver should stop. Over the summer holidays the foreshore camping ground and beach car parks are busy, and traffic builds on Frankston–Flinders Road on weekends. There’s very limited public transport, so taxis are often the easiest way for visitors and residents without a car to reach Balnarring, Red Hill or the hospitals.

What trips can I book from Shoreham?

Questions about travelling in Shoreham

Can you collect us from the Shoreham foreshore camping ground?

Yes. Tell us your site or the nearest landmark, and the driver will meet you there or at the camp entrance. In peak season the area is busy, so having your bags packed and waiting near the road speeds things up. We can take you anywhere on the peninsula or back to Melbourne.

Can you take us up to Red Hill for dinner and bring us back?

Yes. It’s a short drive up Shoreham Road to many of the Red Hill restaurants and cellar doors. Book your outward trip with a set time and use “pick up when ready” for the return. On summer weekends, book a day or two ahead to make sure a car is available.

Is there a bus from Shoreham to the hospital?

Public transport from Shoreham is very limited, so most people without a car use a taxi for hospital trips. We’ll take you door to door to Frankston Hospital or Rosebud Hospital and drop you at the main entrance. For appointments with an uncertain finish time, book the return as “pick up when ready”.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
