In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Baxter since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

For Baxter residents, Taxi Peninsula is a local service rather than a city fleet that occasionally wanders this far south. We take bookings day and night, every day of the year, and we can send a sedan for an ordinary trip or a wheelchair accessible taxi with a ramp or hoist when that is what the passenger needs.

Baxter is a semi-rural community just south-east of Frankston, where Frankston-Flinders Road, Baxter-Tooradin Road and the Moorooduc Highway meet and Peninsula Link runs close by. Baxter station is on the Stony Point line, but trains run less often than on the metropolitan network, so a taxi to Frankston station is a popular choice for commuters and anyone with luggage. People here also travel regularly to Frankston Hospital, Bayside Shopping Centre, Monash University’s Peninsula campus and schools in the area, and out to Melbourne Airport or Avalon Airport for flights. Some families also book regular trips for children with additional needs, choosing the same vehicle type each time so the routine stays familiar.

Book the night before for early departures or a fixed appointment time so we can plan the car around you. If several people are travelling, or you have a heavier power chair, ask for the Maxi WAT, which takes two wheelchairs and six seated passengers. We accept MPTP cards and work with NDIS and aged-care accounts, and a carer can ride with the person they support at no fuss. The booking form shows a fare estimate before you confirm.

What should I know about getting around Baxter?

Baxter is where several busy routes converge, so school drop-off and pick-up times around the area can be slow, as can Frankston-Flinders Road heading into Frankston during the morning peak. Peninsula Link is close by and usually the quickest way north towards EastLink and the city. The Stony Point line stops at Baxter station; if you plan to change trains at Frankston, allow time for the connection. Many homes are on larger blocks, so mention a long driveway or shared access when booking. On rural edges of the suburb, gravel driveways and gates are common, and street lighting is limited at night.

What trips can I book from Baxter?

Questions about travelling in Baxter

Is it quicker to take a taxi to Frankston station than the Stony Point train from Baxter?

It often is, because Stony Point line services are less frequent than metropolitan trains and you still need to change at Frankston. A taxi takes you straight to the Frankston station forecourt to meet the train you want. For regular commutes, a recurring booking means you do not have to call each morning.

Can you collect my child from school in the Baxter area?

We can carry school-age passengers when a parent or guardian makes the booking and gives clear pick-up details, including the gate or meeting point. Let us know if a wheelchair accessible vehicle is needed. School finishing times are busy around Baxter, so booking ahead gives the driver the best chance of arriving right on time.

Do you go from Baxter to Avalon Airport as well as Tullamarine?

Yes, we take passengers from Baxter to both Melbourne Airport and Avalon Airport. Add your flight number when booking an airport pick-up and we track the flight, so the driver adjusts for early or late arrivals. For a departure, book the evening before and leave plenty of margin for check-in.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
