Up on the ridge, among vineyards, orchards and patches of tall forest, Main Ridge is one of the quieter corners of the Mornington Peninsula. Taxi Peninsula covers it 24 hours a day. We’ll send a sedan for lunch at a cellar door or a ride to town, and a wheelchair accessible van or Maxi WAT when a passenger needs to stay in their wheelchair for the trip.
Main Ridge sits on the high ground behind Rosebud and Dromana, around Mornington–Flinders Road and Main Creek Road, with Arthurs Seat State Park on its edge. Visitors come for cool-climate wineries and restaurants and for pick-your-own fruit at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm. Residents, many on small farms or acreage, travel down to Rosebud for shopping and Rosebud Hospital, across to Red Hill village, and to Frankston Hospital or Melbourne Airport for longer trips.
There’s no bus service worth relying on up here, so a taxi is often the only option for people who don’t drive. Book ahead for appointments, early flights or a planned day of winery visits. MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted, and carers come along with the passenger. Winery visitors should mention how many are in the party and whether anyone uses a wheelchair, because the Maxi WAT takes up to two chairs and six seated passengers. For residents, “pick up when ready” takes the guesswork out of getting home from a Rosebud Hospital or Frankston Hospital appointment.

Roads on the ridge are narrow, winding and often lined with trees, with sharp bends and the occasional fog bank in winter. Many homes are at the end of long driveways or down unsealed tracks, so give us clear directions, mention gates and let us know where the car can turn. Kangaroos and other wildlife are common at dawn and dusk. On summer weekends and long weekends, traffic to wineries and the strawberry farm can slow things down on Mornington–Flinders Road. Mobile reception can be patchy in places, so include a backup number and agree on a meeting point for winery pick-ups.

Can you take us between cellar doors around Main Ridge and Red Hill?
Yes. We can drop you at one winery and pick you up for the next, or take you to lunch and home again. Let us know your plan when you book and ask for a fixed quote if you’d like. Setting pick-up times in advance works best, as phone signal can be unreliable in some vineyards.
We have family visiting who use a wheelchair. Can they get to Sunny Ridge?
Yes. Our wheelchair accessible vehicles have a rear ramp or hydraulic hoist and four-point restraints, and the driver will help at both ends. Tell us how many people are coming. The Maxi WAT can carry two wheelchairs and six seated passengers, which suits family day trips to the farm.
How do you find properties on unsealed roads in Main Ridge?
With good directions from you. When booking, mention the road name, any gate or property name, how long the driveway is, and a landmark such as a winery or corner. If it’s your first booking with us, a quick note about where the driver should stop saves time on the day.
