Somers is a tight-knit beach village on Western Port, with sandy streets, coastal bush and a long, quiet beach. Taxi Peninsula serves it around the clock. Book a sedan for a trip to the shops or the station, or a wheelchair accessible vehicle when someone needs to travel seated in their wheelchair, with a ramp or hoist and four-point restraints.
The village is home to the Somers Yacht Club, the general store and Lord Somers Camp, while Coolart Wetlands and Homestead sits on the edge of town with its birdlife and historic house. Many residents commute or travel for shopping and services to Balnarring, Hastings or Frankston. Frankston Hospital is the main public hospital for the area, and trips to Melbourne Airport, the city or Mornington are common. Families staying in holiday houses over summer often book us for trips into town, dinners in Balnarring or Red Hill, and the ride back to the city at the end of the week.
Somers has very little public transport, so it pays to book ahead for appointments, early flights or train connections. Groups and families can ask for the Maxi WAT. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers travel with the passenger. For hospital visits, “pick up when ready” lets you tap “I’m ready” or call once you’re finished at Frankston Hospital, and for flights home, adding your flight number lets us track it.

Somers is reached from Frankston–Flinders Road via Lord Somers Road and nearby roads, and the village itself is quiet with low traffic most of the year. Many streets are narrow, some are unsealed, and homes sit among tea-tree and banksia on bush blocks, so give us a house description, colour or landmark. There are few streetlights, and house numbers can be hard to spot at night. In summer, holidaymakers and school camp groups add to local traffic. The nearest train stations are on the Stony Point line, and buses are limited, so taxis are often the practical choice.

Can you take a group to Lord Somers Camp?
Yes. Let us know the group size, pick-up point and any luggage or equipment when you book. The Maxi WAT can carry up to two wheelchairs and six seated passengers, which suits small groups. For larger parties, tell us your numbers and we’ll talk through what’s needed for the trip.
Can you take me to the train at Bittern or Frankston?
Yes. We can drop you at a nearby Stony Point line station or take you all the way to Frankston station for more frequent trains. If you’re catching an early service, book the night before. We can also meet you at the station when you return, so you’re not left waiting for a bus.
Can you take us to Coolart Wetlands and Homestead?
Yes. It’s a short trip from most of Somers, and we can drop you at the car park near the entrance. If you’re not sure how long you’ll spend watching the birds or exploring the gardens, book the return as “pick up when ready” and call us when you’re finished.
