Sandy tracks, tea-tree scrub and the roar of the surf define St Andrews Beach, a quiet settlement on the ocean side of the peninsula behind Rye. Taxi Peninsula serves it day and night. We send a sedan for everyday trips, or a wheelchair accessible van or Maxi WAT with a ramp or hydraulic hoist for passengers who need to stay in their wheelchair.
Homes and holiday houses here are spread through coastal bush between the Mornington Peninsula National Park and the farmland of Fingal. The back beach is popular with surfers and walkers, though it’s known for strong currents. There are no shops, so residents head to Rye for groceries and the foreshore, to Rosebud for Rosebud Hospital and appointments, and to Frankston for the hospital and trains. Visitors staying in rentals often book us for Melbourne Airport transfers.
Many addresses can be confusing on a first visit, so give us clear directions when booking. Early flights and appointments are best organised the night before. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers or family can travel with the passenger. Holidaymakers arriving at Melbourne Airport can add a flight number so we track the arrival time. Residents using us for Rosebud Hospital or Frankston Hospital appointments can pick “pick up when ready” and tap “I’m ready” or call when finished. Groups and wheelchair users can ask for the Maxi WAT, which takes two chairs and six seated passengers.

There’s no street lighting on most roads, and house numbers can be hard to see at night. Summer weekends bring surfers and beachgoers, and the beach car park fills on warm days. There’s no regular public transport here, so taxis are a practical way to reach Rye or Rosebud.

The roads near my house are sandy and unsealed. Can a taxi get in?
Usually, yes. Tell us how the road is after rain, whether your driveway is soft, and if there’s a gate. If a section isn’t suitable for the vehicle, the driver will arrange to meet you at the nearest firm spot. For wheelchair passengers, a level, firm loading area is important.
Can you pick me up from the beach car park after a surf or walk?
Yes. Tell us which car park you’ll be at and when you expect to finish. On busy days the car park can fill up, so wait somewhere visible near the entrance. If your timing is uncertain, book as “pick up when ready” and tap “I’m ready” or call us when you’re back.
How do I get from St Andrews Beach to Rye or Rosebud for shopping?
A taxi is the simplest way, as there’s no regular bus service from St Andrews Beach. We’ll take you to the supermarket or shops in Rye or Rosebud, and our drivers can help with bags on the way home. You can set a return time or call us when you’re ready.
