Boneo is open country: paddocks, horse properties, market gardens and homes set well back from the road on the plains south of Rosebud. Taxi Peninsula serves it day and night, sending a sedan for regular trips or a wheelchair accessible van or Maxi WAT for people who travel in their chair. Our drivers are used to rural pick-ups and will help you from the house to the car.
Boneo Road is the main route through the area, running from Rosebud towards Cape Schanck and the ocean coast, with Browns Road among the roads crossing it. There’s no real town centre, so residents head to Rosebud for groceries, the pharmacy and Rosebud Hospital, and to Frankston for the hospital, larger shops and trains. Peninsula Hot Springs and the golf courses of Fingal and Cape Schanck are close by, so visitors staying in Boneo often book us to get there and back.
Because Boneo addresses can be hard to find, especially after dark, tell us about long driveways, gates and landmarks when you book. Early flights and morning specialist appointments are best arranged the night before. We take MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and a carer or family member is welcome to come along. For hospital visits, our “pick up when ready” option means you don’t have to guess how long a Rosebud Hospital or Frankston Hospital appointment will run. Larger households, or visitors travelling with a wheelchair user, can ride together in the Maxi WAT, whose hydraulic hoist suits heavier power chairs.

What should I know about getting around Boneo?
Out here, distances feel longer than in town, and there are few streetlights once you leave Boneo Road. Many properties sit at the end of long gravel driveways or behind farm gates, and some side roads are unsealed, so please give us clear directions, mention gate codes, and tell us whether the driver should come to the house or wait at the road. Mobile reception can be patchy in some pockets, so a landline or alternative number is useful. Traffic is usually light, but Boneo Road gets busier in summer with people heading to the back beaches and the hot springs. Public transport doesn’t really reach most of Boneo.

Questions about travelling in Boneo
My house is down a long gravel driveway. Will the taxi come to the door?
In most cases, yes. Tell us how long the driveway is, whether there’s a gate and where the car can turn around. If the track is very rough or wet, the driver may suggest meeting at the gate instead. For wheelchair passengers we’ll work out a firm, level spot to load safely.
Can you take me from Boneo to Peninsula Hot Springs?
Yes, it’s a short trip across to Fingal and one we do often. We’ll drop you at the main entry. After a long soak you may not know when you’ll be ready, so book the return as “pick up when ready” and tap “I’m ready” or call us when you’re heading out.
Can you get me to Melbourne Airport for an early flight from Boneo?
Yes, we run 24 hours, so very early departures are no problem. Book the night before, add your flight details and include directions to your property. We’ll set a pick-up time that leaves you comfortable time at the airport. On your return, your flight number lets us track your arrival.
Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?
Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.
Can a carer or family member come too?
Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.
How do I pay?
Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
