In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Pearcedale since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

Pearcedale is a semi-rural town on the eastern side of the Peninsula, close to Western Port, where distances are long and buses few. Taxi Peninsula covers Pearcedale 24 hours a day, sending a sedan for routine trips or a wheelchair accessible taxi when a passenger needs to travel in their chair. Many trips here are for medical appointments, shopping and getting to the train, because few residents live within walking distance of a bus.

The township is small, with a local shopping strip and a community feel, surrounded by hobby farms, horse properties and bushland. Baxter-Tooradin Road is the key route, linking Pearcedale to Baxter and Frankston in one direction and towards Tooradin and the South Gippsland Highway in the other. Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, a popular wildlife park, is on Tyabb Road in Pearcedale, and we often carry families and visitors there. Residents regularly book us for Frankston Hospital, Frankston station, Bayside Shopping Centre, Cranbourne for shopping and medical services, and Melbourne Airport.

Since Pearcedale has no train station and taxis are rarely passing, plan ahead: book early flights and medical appointments the day before. Larger households or groups can share our Maxi WAT, which fits six seated passengers and two wheelchairs, and it also handles heavier power chairs with its hydraulic hoist. MPTP cards are accepted, along with NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers travel with the passenger. The fare estimate on the booking form helps with budgeting longer trips.

What should I know about getting around Pearcedale?

Baxter-Tooradin Road carries most traffic in and out of Pearcedale and can be slow behind trucks and farm vehicles. Peninsula Link is reached via Baxter for quick trips north. There is no rail service in Pearcedale; Baxter and Somerville stations on the Stony Point line, or Frankston station, are the nearest. Many homes are on acreage with gates, animals or long driveways, so clear directions help the driver. Moonlit Sanctuary draws extra visitors on weekends and during school holidays. At night, many roads have little or no street lighting, so turning on a porch light or leaving the gate open helps the driver.

What trips can I book from Pearcedale?

Questions about travelling in Pearcedale

Can you take our family from Pearcedale to Moonlit Sanctuary?

Yes, Moonlit Sanctuary is on Tyabb Road in Pearcedale and we take locals and visitors there regularly, including guests staying elsewhere on the Peninsula. A family or small group can travel together in the Maxi WAT. If you are going to an evening session, book your return trip ahead so a car is ready when you finish.

What is the nearest train station to Pearcedale?

Pearcedale has no station of its own. The closest stops are Baxter and Somerville on the Stony Point line, while Frankston station gives direct access to the metropolitan Frankston line. Many residents take a taxi straight to Frankston to avoid changing trains. We can book a regular commute run if you travel on the same days each week.

I have horses and gates at my Pearcedale property. How should I set up a booking?

Add a note explaining which gate to use, whether it will be open, and if there are animals the driver should watch for. Tell us if the car should wait at the road. For wheelchair passengers, let us know where there is a firm surface for the ramp or hoist so loading is safe and comfortable.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
