In short

Taxi Peninsula provides wheelchair accessible taxis in Mornington since 2016, using ramp and hoist vans with wheelchair restraints and drivers who help you from door to door. We travel anywhere across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including hospitals, day programs and Melbourne and Avalon airports, and carers travel with you. Book online in about two minutes or call 0468 323 211. Fares depend on distance and waiting time; MPTP, NDIS and aged-care accounts are accepted.

Mornington is one of the Peninsula’s main towns, and Taxi Peninsula serves it at every hour of the day and night. Whether you need a sedan for a quick hop to Main Street or a wheelchair accessible taxi with a rear ramp or hoist, we can send the right vehicle to your door. Locals use us for medical appointments, shopping and nights out, and visitors book us to move between accommodation, restaurants and wineries.

The heart of town is Main Street, with its cafes, shops and restaurants running down towards Mornington Pier and Mothers Beach. The Bays Hospital, a private hospital, is a common destination for appointments and surgery, and many residents also travel to Frankston Hospital. Mornington Racecourse hosts race meetings through the year, and the harbour and beaches draw crowds in summer. There has been no passenger train to Mornington for decades, so people heading to Melbourne often take a taxi to Frankston station or straight into the city. The Moorooduc Highway, Peninsula Link and the Nepean Highway link Mornington to the rest of the Peninsula.

For early flights, surgery admissions or specialist visits, book the day before so we can schedule your car. The Maxi WAT carries up to six seated passengers and two wheelchairs, which works for groups heading to dinner, a wedding or race day. We accept MPTP cards and NDIS and aged-care accounts, and carers ride with the passenger. If you would like certainty for a longer trip, ask for a fixed quote.

What should I know about getting around Mornington?

Main Street and the streets around the harbour get busy on weekends, during summer holidays and when markets or festivals are on, and parking turnover is slow. Choose a side-street pick-up if Main Street is crowded. Mornington has no train line, so Frankston station is the nearest rail link. The Moorooduc Highway and Peninsula Link carry most traffic towards Frankston and Melbourne, while the Nepean Highway runs along the coast to Mount Martha. Race days at Mornington Racecourse add traffic around the track. Much of the back of town is residential, with quieter streets that suit pick-ups and wheelchair loading.

What trips can I book from Mornington?

Questions about travelling in Mornington

Can you take me to The Bays Hospital in Mornington for surgery and bring me home?

Yes. Tell us your admission time when booking and we will plan the pick-up so you arrive with time to spare. For the trip home, use the pick up when ready option and tap I'm ready or call us once you are discharged. The driver can help you from the entrance to the car and into your home.

Do you run taxis to and from Mornington Racecourse on race days?

We do. Race days are busy, so book both legs in advance and agree a pick-up point away from the main gate queue. Groups can share our Maxi WAT, which seats six plus two wheelchair spaces. If your plans might change, keep your booking confirmation handy and call us to adjust the time.

How do I get from Mornington to the city without a car?

There is no train in Mornington, so most people take a taxi to Frankston station and continue on the Frankston line, or travel all the way into Melbourne by taxi. For hospital appointments in the city, a door-to-door trip often suits better. We can quote a fixed fare for a direct trip if you ask when booking.

Can I travel in my power wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most manual and power wheelchairs fit, and you stay seated in your chair. Tell us the make, width and weight when you book so we send the right vehicle. Mobility scooters can travel when they can be safely restrained — please check with us first.

Can a carer or family member come too?

Yes. Carers, family and assistance animals are welcome. Include everyone in the passenger count so we send a vehicle with enough seats.

How do I pay?

Pay the driver by card or cash, use your Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) card, or choose "Account / invoice" for NDIS plan managers, aged-care providers and businesses.
